Dr Sam Roberts graduated from The Newcastle Upon Tyne University in the UK with a Distinction in clinical Dentistry in 2006. Following graduation, Sam worked in the UK under the close mentorship of an experienced oral surgeon. Sam then moved to Australia to combine dentistry with his passion for travelling. Sam has worked in Mackay, Darwin and Hobart to attain mentorship in Oral surgery, Implant dentistry and Cosmetic dentistry. Teaching from renowned clinicians in Brisbane and Canada has also given him valuable experience in more advanced dental procedures and techniques. Sam is a member of the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry and International Team for Implantology (ITI) study club. Dr. Gemma Hamilton
Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr Gemma Hamilton studied Dentistry at The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne qualifying in 2006. Following working for one year in the U.K., Gemma and her husband, Dr Sam Roberts came to Australia to travel for one year in 2007. Fast forward several states, citizenship, Dusty the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a house and dental practice and two sons, Jock and Mac, it is safe to say the Sunshine Coast is now very much home! Gemma enjoys treating all members of the family, from children for their first dental visit to providing care for grandparents. Gemma enjoys getting to know her patients and creating a trusting bond. Gemma is particularly interested in treating anxious patients and ensures a visit to the dental surgery is pleasant and that patients feel at ease. Dr. Darien Koh
ABN 37 463 786 805 Originally from Malaysia, in Southeast Asia, Darien graduated at the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science Honours Class I. Darien takes time to address all of his patients' concerns. He is particularly interested in assisting patients in regaining their smile and confidence. He actively listens to understand patient’s long term goals for their teeth and tailor a plan to suit their needs. Darien's work has a strong emphasis on preventive care to maintain health of teeth and gums to prevent future problems. He is particularly interested in restorative dentistry and using the most up to date technology such as CAD-CAM. Darien is a member of the Australian Dental Association. Dr. Jalina Patel
ABN 28 643 045 618 Dr. Jalina Patel graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2015. Following working in both general practice and in hospital she moved from the U.K to Australia in 2017. Jalina has recently relocated from Brisbane and is looking forward to the Sunshine Coast way of life! Jalina enjoys taking the time to get to know her patients, and being able to get to the bottom of any problems or concerns they have. As well as treating adults, Jalina enjoys treating children and believes teaching and maintaining excellent oral hygiene from a young age is essential. Outside of work Jalina enjoys watching live music, yoga, going to the beach and eating out.
Dr. Rupen Patel
ABN 15 305 743 216 Dr Rupen Patel is a friendly, chatty and approachable dentist, ensuring his patients feel at comfortable and at ease when visiting. Dr Patel interest in dentistry started when he was in school; he finds the ability to help his patients improve their health highly rewarding. He provides general dentistry treatments, but particularly enjoys restorative dentistry including bonding, adhesives, composites and crowns. Outside of work, Dr Patel enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise – attending the gym when he can. And on the sporting side, he likes playing tennis.
Dr. Isha Pandher
ABN 71 734 749 281 Dr. Isha grew up in country Victoria and went on to study at La Trobe University in Bendigo, graduating with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Dentistry/Master of Dentistry in 2015. Over the last 8 years, she has gained an abundance of experience, working at both public and private dental clinics. As a dentist, Isha's patients say she has a beautiful, gentle approach. She is passionate about providing high quality dental work and takes particular care in ensuring her patients feel relaxed, comfortable, and fully understood. Her special interests include minimally invasive dentistry and restorative procedures. Isha recently got married and moved to the Sunny Coast from Sydney. In her spare time, Isha enjoys travelling, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. Since moving here, she's also looking forward to spending more time at the beach!

Deb Kerridge – Hygienist
Deb Kerridge graduated from the Brisbane School of Dental Therapy in 1978. In 1998 Deb enrolled in the first intake of the Dental Hygienist course offered by University of Queensland and the Queensland University of Technology. Deb was introduced to Hinterland Dental in the early 2000s and was very excited to be able to be involved in a team that is as passionate about prevention as she is herself. Deb is a member of the Australian Oral Health Therapy Association, the Australian Dental Hygienist Association and also the Australian Dental Therapy Association as well as participating in various study groups. Special areas of interest include: All areas of preventive dentistry, Periodontal care, childrens care and aged care. Claire Cahill – Oral Health Therapist
Claire Cahill enjoys treating patients of all ages and her main focus is the preventative side of dentistry. Claire is passionate in maintaining happy and healthy smiles. Claire enjoys treating patients of all ages and the challenges that each age group presents. Claire enjoys treating children and educating them on how to look after their teeth. As an oral therapist, Claire also gains pride in providing restorations for children and adults alike and ensuring that teeth are maintained to the highest standard. In her spare time, Claire enjoys finding new waterfalls and hiking tracks and also plays field hockey.

Sandy Haigh – Practice Manager
Sandy joined the Hinterland dental team in November 2019. With a solid foundation in administrative management and fourteen years of experience in the dental field, Sandy brings invaluable skills and expertise to her role. She is dedicated to ensuring the happiness of all patients and maintaining the high-quality service promised by the practice. Sandy feels fortunate to work alongside a passionate team who are dedicated to their careers. Originally from Darwin, she cherishes the time spent visiting family and enjoys the comfort of home, especially with her five beloved dogs.
Sara – Treatment Co-ordinator
Sara started at Hinterland Dental in 2014! Sara started out as a dental assistant and now as a treatment co ordinator, she is a senior member of the team. As a treatment co ordinator, Sara liases between the dentist and patient and ensures that patients have a clear picture of what is to be expected from treatment and what treatment entails. Outside of work Sara loves spending time with her partner Zack and their little dogs Bella & Harry.

Dr Sarah Higham
Dr. Sarah Higham joined our practice in 2017 to make sedation a possibility for our patients. Sarah graduated from Guy’s Dental Hospital, London in 1993. She has over twenty years of experience in general practice dentistry in the UK and Australia. Sarah has also worked in several hospital settings as a lecturer and clinical teacher. She is also a specialist in dental sedation and is very experienced in using a wide range of techniques to treat anxious patients. Sarah welcomes all nervous patients, particularly those who haven’t seen a dentist for a long time. Away from work, Sarah keeps busy with her young family.
